http://www.sanjose.org/visitors/thingstodo/main.php is a good site for finding things to do in San Jose.
It's definitely worth taking a side trip to Santa Cruz (30 miles away) if you have some free time before or after the conference. The beaches there are incredible.
The San Jose Sharks are playing the Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2.
The Winchester Mystery House has a special Flashlight Tour scheduled for Halloween night. It is approximately 6-8 miles from the conference and a short cab ride away.
